NAMM 2014: VOX Night Train G2, AC15C1, SoundBox Mini Guitar Amplifiers


VOX thought it would be a good idea to put out three new killer pieces of gear for NAMM 2014.

We here at have to agree!

First, there’s the Night Train G2 series. Two-channel All-tube class AB amps 12AX7 preamp tubes driven by EL84 on the NT15H-G2 / NT15C1-G2 and EL34s on the NT50H-G2. Classic VOX cleans and gains pushed to the limit with modern distortion sounds!







Second, the Limited Edition AC15C1 in British Garnet Red. Two-channel with a Normal and Top boost.





Last, but definitely not least, VOX’s got the SoundBox Mini. If you want to practice in style, the Soundbox Mini is shaped like an old school boom box. A “grab-n-go” media player with optional battery power. The SoundBox Mini can be used to play along with MP3’s with guitar, bass, or any other instrument, including vocals. Eight on-board effects including delay and reverb make it easy to dial in the sound you’re looking for.

VOX Displays Night Train G2 Amplifiers

– Line features new voicing, reverb, more channel offerings and a new combo –

WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 23rd, 2014 – VOX Amplification is showing the all-tube Night Train G2 series of amplifiers. Well-known for its distinct metal exterior design, the Night Train series provides an easy way to enjoy both classic and new VOX tones in a convenient, compact, format. The Night Train G2 series includes the 15 Watt NT15H-G2 and 50 Watt NT50H-2G amplifier heads, plus the 15 Watt NT15C1-G2 – the first ever combo amp with the Night Train name. Optional matching cabinets are also available.The overall sound has been enhanced, featuring full, robust tube tone in a class AB design. The pre-amp is driven by with three 12AX7 tubes; the power amp boasts two EL84 tubes on the NT15H-G2/NT15C1-G2 and two EL34 tubes on the NT50H-G2.

The Night Train G2’s two-channel design delivers not only classic VOX clean and crunch sounds, but also modern high-gain sounds as well. The GIRTH channel has a powerful, modern high-gain sound that’s ideal for the guitarist who seeks an even heavier sound. The BRIGHT channel provides VOX’s distinctive clean/crunch sounds and also features a THICK mode that bypasses the tone control circuit and boosts the gain to obtain a thicker tone, for a rich variety of tonal character. An optional VFS2A foot switch can be used to conveniently toggle between the two channels during live performance.

A digital reverb designed exclusively by VOX for this series has been added to all models for road-ready reliability and studio-quality reverb sounds. For the guitarist who wishes to integrate pedals and outboard effects, the Night Train G2 amps provide an FX loop. The NT50H-G2 also includes a DI output that can be connected to a mixer or PA system.

The optional, dedicated speaker cabinets are a perfect match for the amplifier heads, both aesthetically and sonically. The V212NT-G2 contains two G12H anniversary model speakers that were specially produced to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Celestion, and whose voicing complements the NT50H-G2. The V112NT-G2 contains one classic Celestion G12M greenback speaker. Both cabinets feature a rounded, retro exterior.

The Night Train G2 series amplifier heads feature a black gloss finish; the combo amps and cabinets feature a rounded retro look with VOX black diamond grille cloth. Both are equipped with suitcase-type handles.

For over 50 years, guitarists have relied on the signature tone of the VOX AC15 amplifier. Now, the AC15C1VRDis available featuring a Celestion V-Type speaker and custom “British Garnet Red” tolex with Tygon grill cloth. This custom color projects a powerful presence in any environment – on stage, in the studio or at home.The AC15C1VRD offers two channels: Normal and Top Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel offers interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. Both channels utilize the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain-staging. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, users can enjoy the coveted clean VOX “chimey” sound, a powerful overdriven tone, and everything in between.

The V-Type speaker has been built using a carefully balanced ‘recipe’ of old and new design techniques. It’s a sweet-sounding speaker with a superbly balanced tonal signature that offers a vintage musicality with authentic Celestion tone for any playing style. Announcing the VOX SoundBox Mini

– New Mobile Media Player also offers electric guitar amplification –

WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 23rd, 2014 – The new VOX SoundBox Mini is a fun, “grab-n-go” type of mobile media player with optional battery power. It can be used with any audio source, from MP3 players to microphones, as well as instruments such as guitar, bass, and keyboard. VOX SoundBox Mini features new proprietary Acoustage sound technology, as well as a rugged, die-cast aluminum casing for use anywhere.In addition to audio playback and jamming along to MP3s, VOX SoundBox Mini can also be used for vocal training. As a practice tool for aspiring vocalists, a center cancel function can eliminate vocals from audio that’s playing via the AUX In jack.

Eight effects are available, including delay, reverb and more. The Tap button enables users to easily set the delay time in sync with the tempo. For convenience, the VOX SoundBox Mini boasts an E string tuner that can be used with instruments connected to the Guitar jack. It can also be mounted directly onto a mic stand, for use as a keyboard monitor, or for personal use. Built-in VOX Acoustage technology creates a wide stereo sound for a more full listening experience from a small source.
