I just recently received a brand new Marshall JVM410H/1960A half stack as a birthday gift and in my opinion this is and always will be the “Holy Grail” in amplification!

  2. I owned a Behringer and it sucked. The quality was terrible and I knew I needed to get a tube amp. Bugera amps looked promising and I liked how they sound. But then I did much needed research and found out Behringer makes them. Now they may really be good amps but I would never take that risk. And after I got my v33h I needed a cab to replace by Behringer cab. I looked at Bugera cabs and they looked good and affordable but when I researched I found the build quality to be shoddy and the speakers to be inferior. Now that is my opinion but believe me, I gigged with a Behringer halfstack and they are truly the worst products ever and I will never take a chance with this company again.

There is a lot of talk a hotplate will change the sound of an amp. I do have a Windsor Studio (wich has an attenuator), and I do not hear a –change– of sounds. It will sound less interesting-more dull– but no reall change. And I learn to get to know the break up of my amp very faast…

I do hope you will be able to get into that topic another time.

Great review. I’m lookin at layin down some cash for the mighty 1960 and I was wondering if you could take a look at the 4×12 cabinet bugera makes. So the attenuator allows a person to get the high volume tube squeal while maintaining a neighbor freindly volume, am I right? It looks like you just set your attenuator volume to the desired level and then the amp is free to be turned up at will. What about if you are driving the amp with a tubescreamer? How hard can you push the attenuator?
