NAMM 2019 : New color and wood for Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal & San Dimas Guitars

For Winter NAMM 2019, Charvel introduces new color and wood options for its best-selling Pro-Mod Series So-Cal and San Dimas guitars.

Designed to inspire, the CHARVEL PRO-MOD SO-CAL STYLE 1 HH FR ECHARVEL PRO-MOD SO-CAL STYLE 1 HH FR M and CHARVEL PRO-MOD SO-CAL STYLE 1 HH FR MLH are slick performers with premium features and versatile sound every guitarist will appreciate.

Featuring a maple fingerboard, the SO-CAL STYLE 1 HH FR M is available in a new SNOW WHITE finish with a parchment pickguard and chrome hardware, while the left-handed version features the same SNOW WHITE dressing but with a black pickguard and black hardware.

Featuring an ebony fingerboard, the SO-CAL STYLE 1 HH FR E adds two new colors — a brooding GLOSS BLACK or stunning DEEP PURPLE METALLIC finish with black pickguard and black hardware.

Constructed with an alder body, these So-Cal axes also feature a maple neck with a hand-rubbed urethane back finish and a pair of graphite reinforcement rods for rock-solid stability, as well as a conveniently located heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel. Engineered for effortlessly nimble playing, the 12”-16” compound radius fingerboard features 22 jumbo frets and dot inlays.

Hot-rodded for unparalleled performance and versatile sound, these instruments host a high-output Seymour Duncan TB-6 Distortion humbucking bridge pickup and a warm, fat Seymour Duncan SH-6N Distortion humbucking neck pickup.   The volume control hides a push/pull coil split for even more highly useful tonal variations, ideal for everything from a biting lead sound to thick, chunky rhythm work. The no-load tone control (right-hand models only) operates like a standard tone control from positions one through nine, removing itself from the circuit at position ten for transparent sound, letting the full natural voice of the guitar shine through. The left-handed model features a tone control with push/pull tone activation.

These models also feature a Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking recessed tremolo bridge system, Charvel-branded sealed die-cast tuners, standard strap buttons and a licensed Fender Stratocaster headstock.

An ideal instrument for dazzling high-speed playing, the SAN DIMAS STYLE 1 HH FR E boasts an all-new DEEP PURPLE METALLIC or SATIN BURGUNDY MIST finish with black hardware and an ebony fingerboard.

The SAN DIMAS STYLE 1 HH FR M QM also gets a new color addition with a gorgeous TRANSPARENT GREEN BURST finish, and features a maple fingerboard and quilt maple top.

These San Dimas models also have an alder body, bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement, speed neck profile, 12”-16” compound radius fingerboard with comfortably rolled edges, 22 jumbo frets and dot inlays, and a heel-mount truss rod wheel for quick and convenient neck tweaks.
High-output Seymour Duncan JB and Seymour Duncan ’59 humbucking pickups are directly mounted to the body, cranking out high octane rock ‘n’ roll tone with plenty of sweet overtones.

A volume control conceals a push/pull coil split to have even more tonal variations on tap while the no-load tone control operates like a standard tone control from positions one through nine, removing itself from the circuit at position ten for transparent sound, letting the full natural voice of the guitar shine through.

These models are also outfitted with a Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo bridge system, Charvel-branded sealed die-cast tuners, standard strap buttons and a licensed Fender Stratocaster headstock.

About the Author: French by birth but Texan by heart, I had different careers in multiple areas that don’t really make sense when they’re all laid down on my resume. Amongst them I’m a former military officer (mainly confidential stuff I can’t talk about) — I’m a former network architect (the stuff with switches, routers, optical fibers, satellites and wireless things that allow people to be connected) — I’m a former R&D engineer and product designer (mainly for electronics instruments in the Music Industry) — I’m also a former sound engineer that worked in professional recording studios (but nobody cares about that anymore) — and I even thought once in my life I was someone almost important doing things almost awesome... Now I’m just a professional amateur spreading my 2 cents online about anything and everything to anyone with too much time in their hands — and if you’re reading this bio, you might be one of them that just wasted 2mn of your life you will never get back. Sorry...
