It’s no secret that TheToneKing.com has been covering some Tone City Audio pedals, and we dig them! Like most pedals out there – we have unofficially learned that many of their designs were inspired by some other great pedals out there. We don’t have any confirmed clarification if the below list is accurate, but it’s to our understanding that if you’re looking for a specific type of pedal – there may be an equivalent Tone City Audio pedal to suit your fancy. Enjoy our unconfirmed cross comparison chart.

  • Wild Fire Distortion – Suhr Riot
  • Golden Plexi – Carl Martin Plexi Tone (which is based off of a Marshall Style Amp)
  • Tape Machine – Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay Pedal
  • Dry Martini Overdrive – Fulltone OCD
  • Sweet Cream Overdrive – Mad Professor Honey Overdrive
  • Mandrogora Overdrive – Kalamazoo Love Pedal
  • Kaffir Lime Overdrive – Xotic BB-Preamp
  • Bad Horse Overdrive – Klon
  • Black Tea – Carl Martin AC-Tone (which is based off of a Vox AC30)
  • Fuxx Fuzz – Fulltone ULtimate Octave Fuzz Pedal
  • Angel Wing – ???
  • Summer Orange – Maxon 909 Style

The Angel Wing is based on the Boss CE-2 chorus pedal.
Thanks for the publishing the basis for the other pedals.

  3. […] Enjoy mini / micro pedal packs a LOT of punch (or should I say Fuzz). I give you the FUXX Fuzz. Some say this is a lot like the Fulltone ULtimate Octave Fuzz Pedal. Hi TTK

Really like what your doing here and on You Tube. I have to say I very much enjoyed your review of the Tone City pedals. Growing up in the 80s and loving all the “hair bands” and 80s rock, I have to say I really really liked the British amp sounds on the Golden Plexi and the Black Tea. By far though the Angle Wing was my favorite. I am curious to see if you think there is any better bang for your buck then the Tone City pedals? Dollar for dollar its hard to see better value. I would love to hear what you have to say on this.

    Hi TK,

Really enjoy the service you provide to us all. For your Tone City cross comparison cart I found a link that suggests the Angel Wing is based on the Boss CE-2, hope this is of interest.
