Hey, great website and youtube channel! I own a Crate Blue Voodoo 150 and play a lot of metal/rock. I am building a custom 2×12 and was curious what would be the best speaker for the sound I am looking for. I was thinking Eminence Mavericks or Reignmakers. Btw my favorite tone in a guitarist is Judas Priest/AFI….What do you think?

I hate this to mod or not to mod shootout. I’m almost positive that b is the RR modded amp. It sounds warmer, darker, more gain. The sound is just so horrible though, pumping a 150W amp through a little camera mic. The a amp sounds better because its clarity is superior, but that could easily just be a crappy mic that picks up non-subtle changes in sound.
I am pretty serious about getting the RR mod done. This video is no help though. Maybe I can find the secret stash here somewhere that will at least tell me which one is modded.
I think that amp “B” is modded. Amp “A” seems like the tone is alot more focused where “B” is alot more wide open. I believe the modification was possibly adding a good 10″ speaker in there, it would have been alot more obvious if any changes with the tone knob were compared. Both amps sound good though, but hey TTK could make anything sound good! Hope you get kickbacks from all the gear you have sold me on. Love your shootouts!

I think amp A has the mod.It sounds crisper and not as muddy on half or full out.I am probably gonna buy one to add to my herd.So which was modded? thanks.
I think A sounded better and I believe it to be a mod. I own this amp and the v33h head. They sound good clean but so muddy distorted. Hence, I use a pedal for distortion. Please let me know which one was the mod. If I chose the mod then please let me know how to do this mod. I’m currently working on the Soldano mod for my v33h and would love to find a good mod for the v5.
hey man i seen your add on the randal rm100.i ended up buying the amp and checked out your distortion page on youtube u told us to check out your website to see the 3 moduls that u used i just cant seem to find them hahah i really liked the 2nd mod just dident no what one it was anyways hope to hear back from you thanks a million keep up the good work man…

Amp b sounds much better. It think its a speaker that was changed out from factory.
