Keep it in the Family: The Tone King takes a look at The Hoodie
By Marc Johnson for TheToneKing.com
At TTK, we know that sometimes don’t take care of our gear the way we should. Often we have sat idly buy and watched while our drunk friends topple their beer over our axes. For those of us who feel bad for our neglected axes, Ten4 Products has created The Hoodie to help us keep our gear safe.
Headed up by Drew Burmeister and his family out of the Chicago Land Area, The Hoodie is Ten4’s flagship product. Inspired by his mother who would put a hooded sweatshirt on her guitar whenever she was done playing, Drew and family wanted to create a product that would help players take better care of their guitars.
The Hoodie is a soft polyester fabric that completely wraps around your guitar and covers it head to toe. Two magnetic clasps in the back hold the Hoodie in place around the guitar and the stand that it sits on.
Ten4 plans to make three sizes of Hoodies to accommodate all sizes of guitars and basses. They come in three colors that every rocker is going to dig: including, dark blue, burgundy, and black. Although the Hoodie can definitely be used on the road, at home is probably where it is going to come in most handy. Offering protection from direct sunlight, which can fade your finish, and exposure to cold drafts, which can cause your neck to tweak out, the Hoodie is more than just a way to keep the dust off of your axe.
Acoustic collectors should quickly notice that this should get their prized pieces out of their cases and out in the open where they belong. Keep the humidifier in the sound hole and wrap the Hoodie around the guitar and you have a tent that will keep the humidity in and the harmful elements out. Mother Burmeister herself even keeps her prized Martin acoustic on display wrapped in the product that she inspired.
Overall, the Hoodie is well designed and easy to put on or take off of your guitar. The fabric is definitely soft enough to keep next to your nicest finishes while water resistant, so, that if you do spill beer on it, it will roll off rather than soak through and damage your axe.
TheToneKing.com is always happy to show you guys these small family-owned companies that are coming out with new products, and we’ll keep telling you about companies like Ten4 as long as they keep building stuff for players like you.

Hey Mike again. What’s the deal? I see you have a little blog and are throwing more trash around about the Hoodie. Do you make a competing product and it’s your way of trying to put down your competition? I read some replies to other things you’ve written. Seems a few people are not too happy with you.
I had just received these for my collection and they’re very nice. The material is nice and soft so it will not scratch up your finish and completely covers my guitars and bass with the exception of my Steinberger GM guitar (which I was expecting, since it has no headtock). For my Steinberger, I taped a stick to my guitar stand so that the hood was held at the correct height. Problem solved
I spend alot of time trying to keep my collection clean. I put sheets over the top at night and when people are not around. At least these look kind of cool. Guitars need to be out for easy access. If I kept mine in cases I would never play. Anyway who wants to spend money on a hardshell for every guitar.
Well Mike, I don’t question the fact that you might be a great guitar player and own some nice guitars. I owned a few nice guitars myself. However, when you wrote did you ever think about the folks behind this cover that probably spent their time and money to design and manufacture this product. I’m sure they appreciate your dumb comment. If you can read they are not saying the hoodie will replace your case. What they’re saying is it will give your guitar some protection while it’s on a stand. I leave my guitar out on a stand when I go back and forth. I don’t always put it back in the case. I usually throw a old towel over it just to keep the dust off when I’m gone. The hoodie looks like it will work much better than a towel and will look better. Use your brain and look at the product for what it is. Do you display your guitar in the front window of your house. I’m going to buy one just because of your idiotic comment.
so you want to leave your acoustic guitar out so it can be seen, then you cover it up with a hoodie. come on, put the guitar back in the case where it belongs. this is about the dumbest idea i’ve heard of.
This is great… dust just makes my guitar ugly and cleaning it from time to time is not really my thing… it seems to be very simple yet it will surely serve the purpose
Brilliant mind.. great product!
Great innovative product! This is a high quality cover (design, fabric & workmanship). My classical guitar can’t thank you enough!
Checked out the website. Looks cool, cheap price, like a snuggie for your guitar. Camo would be good.
i was just thinking last night, i need to find something i can just drapde over my guitars to keep the dust off them.this looks kind like what i was thinking.so great idea.in gonna go to goodwill and buy some cheap hoodies thanks… lol
I own a HOODIE. It’s fabulous. No need to deal with my hardcase at home. Looks good and keeps the dust away from my Martin. Very nice.
