They both sounded kinda muddy to me. You should used better quality cabs. A couple of 412′s would have made more sense.
How much is the Soldano? $2500 plus?
For the difference in the sound I’ll take the Bugera for $500.
That was an easy one! But I do enjoy, been watching for a while, I have 7 maybe 8 tube amps and appreciate the value verse tone scenario you touch on. I did a b52 vs marshall jcm 2000 and I have to tell u , I run through Morley aby tripler and it was almost dead on! My 900s are a different animals and my laney aor 100 is a complete different animal! I will ad a peavey Windsor in a day or so, trading my bugera v22 for it. Keep it up , but as most comment sound quality is a bit harsh. But it is what it is! I enjoy it, Chinese amp are creeping up, the issues are the parts, I switched out my bugeras 12 with a celestial and swooped out china tubes with some Russians I believe, big difference. Amp “A” sounded better. And because it demonstrated the broadest range of harmonics, it was easy to guess that it was the Soldano. Can’t wait. My next amp will be a Soldano Hot Rod 100… METAL!!!!

I was right. I personally thought that amp B sounded better, but I’m a big fan of low-end. The Bugera was kind of muddy, but not enough to discourage me from buying it. Tweaking the settings and putting an EQ in front of it should help a little bit.

I love soldano but who can afford one. I have a bugera 6262 and I love it. I paid 325 bucks off of ebay. Everyone wants to crack on Bugera saying they are cheaply made but mine has not let me down. And you can buy 6 of them for the price of one soldano. I think the choice is clear. And if it breaks go to another one lol. I plan on buying a 1960 with a two twelve cab also.
I knew from the first chord it was a Soldano. Having played the Hot Rod off and on for the past several years. It was very easy to hear. I just bought the Bugera 6260 in May 2010. The Bugera sounds stronger the more you crank up the volume. On the test I noticed that the Soldano 50watt Master Volume was up half way. While the 120watt Bugera was on 1! This was done of course to even out the volume level between the amps. Thank you for the inclusion of the ‘mystery box’. I’ll make that Morley Hum Eliminator be my next purchase. Thank you for a job well done.

I have the 6260 and it is a great amp for the money. I’ve been thinkinkg of swapping out the trannies for mercuries. I bet it would stand up alot better to the Soldano.
thanks for all your hard work as soon as you struck a chord on amp A i thought warren haynes and sounded very soldono that was my dead give away, amp A seamed to express the full range of the guitar and had better harmonic overtones amp B seemed a little muddy couldnt hear individual notes as clearly they both sound great though i wonder if turning the volume down to match the soldano gave an edge to the soldano becouse it could breath a little more just a thought i would love to see/hear more blind tests in the future how about a jap sq/jv strat against a vintage american strat both stock and played on the same amp that would be cool thanks again jimmyjam
