I began playing nearly 30 years ago with an amp that I built out of old barn siding and a tube amp that was pulled out of a record player. How's that for old school??? I still have pictures of it!
In fact I won my first talent show using that thing. Wish I still had it.

Anyway, since then I have become a computer programmer, and have had my own computer stores both in the U.S. and the U.K. I have tried various PC modeling software and have often pined over having a portable rig that had the best of both my computer and music worlds. I think that this amp would fill that ticket VERY nicely. Thanks

Another old school/new school I just thought of. This shows I'm old school, old any way. I use a 1975 Marshall 100 watt MkII Super Lead with a Marshall JCM 800 4X12, and a Marshall 9001 3-ch all tube preamp. That is my old school Super awesome tone Generator, did I say Marshall? I Record all of my Tracks on a Tascam Digital DP-02 Portastudio. When the preveious Old/new I did earlier 63 gibson w/EMG 81P is combined with the above Old School Marshall Tone Machine and the New School Digital 8-track. You get the best of both worlds. I know most people think that the old Marshall stuff is for old hard rock/acid rock, but let me tell ya with the combo of the 9001 preamp and the EMGs I can play any Metal I want. I can also use a semi-old school Mesa Trem-O-Verb 2X12 combo for so called modern sounds. Doesn't matter either way super tone and any sound I, or you, could possibly want from old school to the newest new school. Though my ears are ringing from all the half-stack volume. LoL!! I can live with it, My neighbors 1/2 mile away can't though!! BwaaaHaaaaa!

Super Horns at ya,

Hi Tone King! I've been hanging out in the background enjoying all your videos and reviews. You provide a great service! Thanks! Regarding the old school/ new school...I remember when Living Colour played in my college gym back in Nov '93 (I believe that was their last concert in the U.S. before touring South America and then breaking up at that time). I entered the a gym couple hours before the show, while our school basketball team was still practicing in the other gym across the hall. No one else was around and I was watching Vernon Reid, Doug Wimbish, and Will Calhoun all sound check. It was amazing seeing all of the gear they had at that time. It was also amazing that no one questioned why I was staring at them the whole time too. haha. Our basketball team finished practicing and left the building, leaving just Living Colour, the crew and myself. The school also locked the doors so that no concert goers could get in until approximately 45 minutes before the show. Will Calhoun walked by me a few times and said "hi" (I think he thought that I worked there doing security, or worked for "Subway" since I was next to their giant subs and soda) The school opened the doors and a bunch of college kids mixed with some locals entered the general admission seating. I quickly made my way to the very front, right in front of Vernon Reid's guitar rig. It was insane seeing a pro with his effects pedals, guitars, and master technique all so close. At the time, I only used, and could afford, a Boss Heavy Metal and Super chorus pedal. Vernon, of course, had all kinds of cool gadgets and things that I couldn't even identify. Thousands of dollars worth. These were and still would be out of my economic reach. I never thought that even half of that would be accessible to me. Fast forward to 2010 and Line 6 has made this a reality by including an amp with great tone, modeling, bunch of effects and editing all at an affordable price. Awesome, and a dream come true :-) Thank you! The Living Colour concert was great and a college memory that I will never forget. It was worth losing a little hearing due Vernon's shredding and his speaker cabs being pointed at my head, haha. Rock On!

New school/old school huh? I got it myself and a ESP Gus-600EC. No really I have a 1963 Gibson SGTV with a EMG 81-P (The P sizeed EMG 81. It would have the 18-volt mod but not enough room for 2 batteries. Well that is my New School/Old School.

Such great stories of old school new school posted here! Here's mine, maybe not too exciting and maybe not too interesting as some, but here go's:

Old school: I use an old Gibson L6S Electric Guitar, which I tune with an old Peterson Guitar Tuner Model 100 both are plugged into an old Yamaha VX Series 15 Amplifier, which I bought sometime around 1984, or there such.

New school: This is about as new as it gets for me...My wife recently bought me (as a present for my recent birthday) a new Peterson Stroboflip Tuner, I know they aren't the newest Peterson tuner on the market, but for me..hey.

I now use both Peterson tuners to tune. I am quite familiar with The Line 6 Spider Valve MkII 1X12 Combo Amp and the Matching FBV Shortboard MKII by visiting the Line 6 website to day dream and drool over all the great gear there. I think that the engineers who developed these two great units, really caught lighting in a bottle, by mixing Old School tubes coupled with New School modeling.

Band - Old School: The Jimi Hendrix Experience
New School: The Jimi Hendrix Experience

I am always amazed as to how fresh Jimi's music still sounds today, as it did back in the late sixties. The sheer number of young people who are just now "Experiencing" his music (and loving it) will attest to how great he and "The Experience" was.

If I may piggy back on nght5tlkr..."Good luck to all participants! Whoever wins will be one happy player"......indeed!!

been a long time oldschool, remember the time I was using my Marshall combo, an MXR fuzzbox + a chorus + a WEM Copycat tape delay and happy with it...

also turnede years later to just carry my XTLive around and plug to PA, no head+boxes load, wow... when used with a competent crew + equipment, just as happy with amp modelling...

Rheinhold Bogner + Line6 have got into the right blend of both worlds, hope I win those...!!! :D
