hi i need some advise i want to record a live band at the bar but i dont know how to do it i have a 16 chanel interface(tascam us-1641) and a 16 chanel mixing board but i want a multi track recording for touchup after.

please help me on how to use my iterface and laptop to record the band.

current equipmet is a 16ch mixing board

tascam us-1641

2 amp mains and monitors

drums

elec guitar

acou guitar

piano

bass

2 backup singers

lead singer

assuming you have all of the hardware, you would need some multi-track software.  If you have a MAC, I believe garageband could work for you.  If you have a PC, and don't want to spend big bucks … Audacity is free.  I've used it in the past, and it works pretty well.  Just watch your mic levels, so you don't clip.
