OfflineHey. I have a Mesa F-50 112. I like the amp but its gotta have one of the worst for feedback and hiss. Yes i do use a noisegate. Its an MXR smartgate. It takes away alot of the feedback but its still very bad. So bad infact that if it take the gain on the amp past 12:00 it cant be used. So ive began to keep the gain down and boost the amp with an overdrive. Its still very very bad. Its really bothering me and im wondering if anyone could please help a guy out. Thanks.
I'd say microphonic tube, but you'd have to test it. NOTE: If you have no experience with the inner workings of your amp, I suggest taking it to a tech. That said, testing for a microphonic tube is relatively easy. While the amp is on, gently tap on each of the tubes with a chopstick or pencil (something nonconductive). A microphonic tube will feedback or you'll hear the tap as really loud as opposed to just amplifying the tap slightly.
