Ordered a set of Blackouts today to put in a Warbeast. Got a guitar tech willing to put them in for $50 for the pair. Not sure if this is a good deal or not. Im willing to pay it as long as its done right. Im not familiar with active pups is there anything i need to check/look at before i take the guitar home?

the only thing that can be complicated on actives when doing it to a guitar that came with passives is whether or not to route out the guitar for a battery cavity or not.

Amps - Marshall JCM 2000, Bogner Alchemist, Orange Tiny Terror, Fender Supersonic. Orange 20ldx. Cabinets - Egnater 1x12 (Celestion G12H), Avatar 4x12 (Greenbacks).Guitars - Fender Toronado, Fender FSR Strat, Fender 72 Telecaster Deluxe, Fender 72 Thinline Telecaster, Michael Kelly Patriot Premium, Epiphone 1956 Les Paul. Cables - Monster and Mogami. Pedaltrain pedal board loaded with a lot of pedals.

In the past – anytime I had actives installed … there was always enough room in the cavity to put the battery.  Just wrap it in light foam, so it doesn't come into contact w/ the other components.

With that said – @ NAMM, I took a look at the new Liberator electronics from Duncan.  They're pretty big in design.  If the new pickup systems have the Liberator hardware – that cavity may be pretty tight.

But – I'm personally not a fan of routing out the guitar … try to squeeze it in if possible.  If you ever want to resell it – that route will be a ding against someone wanting to restore it to stock. (Oddly enough, not everyone sees 'upgrades', like better pickups as an upgrade).  Collectors love stock. (Just my .02 FWIW).
