I have to question your judgment if you don’t check out the vids at the bottom. And, enter the giveaway!

Red Witch is so nice, we checked ‘em twice.

It’s only rarely that TheToneKing.com dives into the same manufacturer twice during 30 Pedals in 30 Days 2014. But, something about that Red Witch gave us an itch. Besides, this one’s a bass pedal. So, it’s different. Because, I said it is. Anyway, on today’s episode of TheToneKing.com’s 30 Pedals in 30 Days 2014, we’re checkin’ the Red Witch Factotum Bass Suboctave Drive.

To make sure that we had the chops to back up what the Factotum going to deliver, we enlisted the services of the master of the four-string mutha, Joe Fazio. Don’t worry, The Tone King will be back tomorrow, but this one goes out to all of you low enders out there.

Fans of Bukowski will recognize that a factotum is someone who can handle a whole host of diverse jobs and responsibilities. Red Witch’s Factotum is not any different. Although the pedal calls itself a Suboctave Drive, the range of sounds that you can get out this thing is nearly endless.

Let’s begin with the Sub. Without bass, you have no balls. Dropping some sub octave on your bass, gives your balls elephantiasis. While there are plenty of octave pedals out there that can drop lower octaves on your lines, the Factotum is 100% analog. The Octave Mix knob, blends between the dry bass and the effected octave doubling. Articulate and powerful with no drop off, this pedal gets the job done with the utmost clarity.

So, how does it drive?

Like a monster truck through a china shop.

With the drive, you can incorporate just a hint or give it enough that you can tear a whole in the space-time continuum. Four knobs, including: D Mix, D Tone, D Volume, and Drive create a variety of bass driven sounds from light fuzz to full-on distortion. And, just like the Suboctave, the drive is 100% analog.

Red With has been hitting all the right buttons lately, turning out quality innovative pedals. It’s a company that we’re going to keep on our radar, and it’s probably a good idea that you do the same. Having TheToneKing.com’s master of bass ceremonies, Joe Fazio, check out Red Witch Factotum Suboctave Drive pedal gave 30 Pedals in 30 Days 2014 enough low end to last us til next year.

About the Author: Marc published his first novel Becoming in 2010. It’s a kick-ass book with monsters and dreams and stuff, and you should buy it. Since then, he’s written thousands of articles for TheToneKing.com, many of which have been picked up for circulation by manufacturers and other news outlets. His next book, Drugs and Pancakes, should be available early 2014 if his alcoholic editor can find time to work on it in-between destroying his liver and screaming about punctuation. He graduated from Roosevelt University with honors, which means that he’s not as dumb as he looks. He’s been playing guitar for over 25 years, which is almost twice as long as most of his students have been alive.
