Ah, 1982.

Porky’s and Knight Rider turned me into a man.

The first CD player was sold in Japan.

And, Korg kicked us in the nuts and showed us all what a rackmount delay could be with the SDD-3000.

Now, Korg is putting all those killer tones at the tip of your toes with the SSD-3000 Digital Delay pedal. For 30 Pedals in 30 Days, TheToneKing.com had a chance to check out the SSD-3000 PEDAL and see if Korg could manage to put so much awesome into one pedal.

There’s no denying it. The SDD-3000 changed the world of sound forever. Cutting edge circuitry and versatility with killer delay tones, the SDD-3000 was a top-shelf digital delay that gave players an array of unique delay sounds that have been immortalized in some of rock’s most bone-crushing anthems.

With the SDD-3000 PEDAL, bigger is definitely better. I mean, this thing is gigantic. Which makes sense, because they probably needed all of that room to fit the megashit ton of sounds that they packed into it.

Like its predecessor, the pre-amp of the SDD-3000 PEDAL offers plenty of headroom while delivering the warmth that players remember. With filter controls that adjusts the feedback and modulation, this pedal has enough delay effects to satisfy even the most discerning tastes.

Of course, Korg didn’t stop there.

Besides for building on all the OG stuff, they added a whole host of new functions like eight delay types, delay times up to 4k milliseconds, selectable modulation waveforms, stereo input/output, and MIDI. If there’s anything more that you’re looking for out of a delay pedal, then you have to be completely insane.

When it comes to iconic delay sounds, there are none more famous that the U2’s the Edge. And guess what he was playing. You got it. An SDD-3000. Building off of that legacy, Korg has taken that earth-changing processor and put it into a pedal. Korg has been on the cutting edge of delay since the beginning and they’ve show us here at TheToneKing.com that they still got what it takes with the SDD-3000 PEDAL.

Features:

  • Eight distinct delay types including SDD-3000, Analog, Tape, Modern, Kosmic, Reverse, Pitch and Panning
  • Five types of modulation waveforms that modulate the delay time
  • Create waveforms that interpolate between two types, and make fine adjustments to the waveform
  • Flanging, chorus, vibrato, doubling, and Doppler effects
  • Delay times from 1 millisecond to 4,000 milliseconds.
  • Sync mode
  • 80 programs (40 banks x 2 channels) can be saved
  • LCR function lets you create multi-tap delay effects
  • MIDI connectors are provided

About the Author: Marc published his first novel Becoming in 2010. It’s a kick-ass book with monsters and dreams and stuff, and you should buy it. Since then, he’s written thousands of articles for TheToneKing.com, many of which have been picked up for circulation by manufacturers and other news outlets. His next book, Drugs and Pancakes, should be available early 2014 if his alcoholic editor can find time to work on it in-between destroying his liver and screaming about punctuation. He graduated from Roosevelt University with honors, which means that he’s not as dumb as he looks. He’s been playing guitar for over 25 years, which is almost twice as long as most of his students have been alive.
