30 Pedals in 30 Days 2014: Uchi Mata Master Effects

If you don’t watch the video and enter the giveaway, Steven Seagal said something about putting an Uchi Mata on your ass!

If you’re ever on a receiving end of an Uchi Mata, you’re gonna get hurt. And the same goes for the Judo move, too.

(Applause)

When TheToneKing.com heard that there was a guy in Canada doing a building a name for himself making pedals in his house, we had to check it out. Master Effects Uchi Mata Distortion is on deck for today’s TheToneKing.com 30 Pedals in 30 Days 2014.

The story of the Uchi Mata Distortion is the story of the dude who built it. Tim has been playing for over thirty years. And, like every other guy who’s been playing for that long, he got the urge to look a bit more closely at his gear.

Sound like anyone else you know?

The comparisons to The Tone King don’t end there. Tim was ready to put his efforts against the big names and see how he stacked up. And, you know what? Whether it came off a production line or somebody’s house. It’s a damn good pedal. .

The Uchi Mata is about as straight ahead as it gets. That’s okay by us. Sometimes all that’s needed for a little ass kicking is a straight up distortion.

Of course, being straight up doesn’t mean that it’s not built to last. Sturdy die cast aluminum enclosure, true bypass circuitry, premium quality resistors and capacitors, individually matched components, individually tuned to optimum configuration, and Switchcraft jacks all make for a dangerous recipe. Since every pedal is made to order, Tim offers a whole host of customizable options as icing on the cake. Plus, the graphics on Master Effects’ pedals are always freaking killer.

Tight lows, ear-piercing highs, and a chunk that will keep your bones rattling for days, the Uchi Mata lives up to its name like being thrown into a brick wall.

For us, it’s always cool to check out gear from those who are passionate about what they do. When you look at Master Effects, you’re looking at a pedal that’s been built to order, with somebody’s bare hands. That’s something truly original. Everybody owns a whole host of big name pedals, but how many can say that they own a piece that was built by one dude passionate about gear? As it always is checking out gear from Master Effects, it was cool checking out the Uchi Mata Distortion pedal for TheToneKing.com’s 30 Pedals in 30 Days 2014.

About the Author: Marc published his first novel Becoming in 2010. It’s a kick-ass book with monsters and dreams and stuff, and you should buy it. Since then, he’s written thousands of articles for TheToneKing.com, many of which have been picked up for circulation by manufacturers and other news outlets. His next book, Drugs and Pancakes, should be available early 2014 if his alcoholic editor can find time to work on it in-between destroying his liver and screaming about punctuation. He graduated from Roosevelt University with honors, which means that he’s not as dumb as he looks. He’s been playing guitar for over 25 years, which is almost twice as long as most of his students have been alive.
